Steamatic Canberra is seeking a motivated and career-driven Restoration Project Manager / Assessor to join our growing operations team.

n

This is a hands‑on operational leadership role responsible for assessing, quoting, coordinating, and overseeing restoration projects following fire, flood, storm, mould, and accidental damage events across the ACT region.

n

We are looking for someone who is practical, organised, confident dealing with people, and capable of managing projects in fast‑paced environments where no two days are the same.

n

Whether you already have restoration industry experience or come from a strong operational, construction, insurance, facilities, or trade background, we are prepared to invest in the right person.

About the Role n

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating restoration projects from initial assessment through to completion.

n

This role combines:

- Property and damage assessments
n
- Project coordination

- Client and insurer communication
n
- Leadership and problem solving

- Operational support and field‑based management
n

n

This is not a desk‑only role. We are looking for someone willing to be involved onsite, support technicians, solve problems quickly, and take ownership of outcomes.

Key Responsibilities n

n
- Conduct detailed onsite assessments of fire, water, mould, storm, and accidental damage claims
n
- Prepare accurate scopes, reports, quotations, and project documentation
n
- Coordinate and oversee restoration projects to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
n
- Manage client, insurer, and stakeholder communication throughout the restoration process
n
- Support and guide restoration technicians onsite
n
- Assist in managing project timelines, resources, equipment, and subcontractors where required
n
- Monitor project progress, costs, and margins

- Contribute to continuous improvement and operational performance
n
- Participate in occasional after‑hours emergency response when required
n

About You n

You will ideally bring: n

- Previous experience in restoration, construction, facilities management, insurance works, trade services, building, logistics, or a similar operational industry

- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills

- High attention to detail and strong organisational ability

- The ability to problem solve and make decisions independently
n
- A hands‑on and team‑focused attitude
n
- Leadership or supervisory experience (highly regarded)
