About the role

Pius X Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a motivated and community minded Dental Assistant Trainee to join our busy Dental Clinic. As a trainee, you will receive hands on clinical experience, structured supervision, and formal training toward a Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting—all while contributing to culturally safe, high quality care for our community.

Key responsibilities

- Support dentists and oral health clinicians during treatments
- Prepare dental surgery rooms, instruments, and equipment
- Follow sterilisation, infection control, and WHS procedures
- Assist with patient flow, bookings, recalls, and client communication
- Maintain accurate patient records and support administrative tasks
- Participate in outreach, school dental programs, and community oral health activities
- Provide culturally secure, respectful care to Aboriginal clients and families

- Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
- Able to follow instructions, routines, and clinical procedures
- Calm, friendly, and professional in busy environments
- A strong communicator who works well in a team
- Interested in building a career in dental or health services
- Aboriginality (Section 14D, Anti Discrimination Act NSW)
- Willingness to enrol in and complete Certificate III/IV in Dental Assisting
- Compliance with Category A immunisation requirements
- Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
