Design Engineer - Orthopaedic Implants & Instruments

Hip and Knee Implant Development

Competitive Salary, plus advantages The purpose The objective of this role is to support the design, development, verification, validation, and production of orthopaedic implants and instruments throughout the product lifecycle. This includes new process and product development as well as continuous improvement of existing processes and products.

The key responsibilities of the Design Engineer

- Assist the Engineering Manager in providing key technical engineering support to projects
- Develop and manage projectplans and timelineswithin the scope of new product development guidelines
- Project planning including budgeting, design inputs, design outputs, design verification, design validation and design transfer to production.
- Coordination of user requirements for design review meetings
- Identify designand performance requirements for implant and instrumentation systems
- Generation of designinput documents
- Generation and coordination of design outputs
- Develop and execute verification and validation protocols in accordance with medical device design control requirements.
- Development of conceptdesigns and coordination of prototype manufacture.
- Identify, coordinate and execute Engineering Change Requests
- To provide engineering support to other functions of the company including generating images for the marketing team
- Liaise with both internal and external customers
- Comply with WHS legislation and company policy

The ideal Design Engineer will have
- Minimum of Bachelorof engineering – mechanical or biomedical
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 quality management systems
- Experience using CAD software
- Experience with medical device product development (preferred)




- Experience with engineering drawings.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including evaluation of stresses, strains, and displacements under physiological loading conditions

- Engineering experience with machining and manufacturing technology
- Efficiency and time management skills
- Ability to be flexibleand adaptable
- Ability to work within a team effectively
- Ability to achieve goals and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
