At Common Valuable Partners, we’ve partnered with a Sydney builder to find a Design Manager. We’re looking for a Design Manager who can lead the design process across construction projects, from early design development through to documentation, delivery and handover.

You’ll work closely with a Project Manager, consultants and site teams to make sure designs meet the client brief, are practical to build, and support the project’s cost, programme, safety and quality requirements. Depending on the projects, you may be involved across more than one stage of delivery at a time.

What you’ll be doing

- Leading consultant coordination and managing the design programme alongside procurement and construction milestones.
- Running design meetings, resolving design issues and keeping documentation moving so site teams have the information they need.
- Working with project teams on buildability reviews, value engineering and practical design solutions.
- Coordinating approvals, construction documentation and design sign-off.
- Identifying design risks early and helping the team work through them.




- Supporting tenders with input on buildability, consultant scopes and design timeframes.
- Managing safety in design workshops and ensuring identified risks are addressed or communicated.

What you’ll bring

- You’ll have experience managing design on construction projects and be comfortable working with architects, engineers, services consultants and delivery teams.
- You’ll have experience managing the design and delivery of commercial construction projects valued between $50 million and $150 million.
- You’ll understand how design decisions affect programme, procurement, cost and what happens on site.
- Strong communication and organisation skills are essential, along with a working knowledge of the National Construction Code, relevant Australian Standards and design documentation systems.
