Primary objective

Deliver high quality, culturally appropriate and effective Nutrition and Dietetics services within NT Health.

Context statement

NT Health provides integrated allied health services in a variety of service settings including acute and sub-acute care, primary health care,

aged care and mental health. Currently seeking applicants in the following areas: Acute and sub-acute care. This position is based in Alice

Springs and provides outreach services to selected remote communities.



Travel to remote areas by road or light plane and stay for up to a week is required. The position will require the applicant to rotate across hospital and renal satellite units and clinical caseloads areas.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate Nutrition and Dietetics services under minimal supervision within a multidisciplinary

framework.
1. Provide feedback to senior staff and management on program and clinical issues.
2. Provide clinical/professional supervision and/or support to students and relevant staff.
3. Prioritise and manage a caseload within a dynamic and evolving work environment to ensure timelines and health outcomes are met.
4. Co-ordinate and/or contribute to continuous quality improvement and service development activities at a local or regional level to

ensure delivery of contemporary Nutrition and Dietetics services.
1. Contribute to the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators.
2. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

values.





Selection criteria

Essential

1. Relevant qualifications in Dietetics that meets membership eligibility requirements of the Dietitians Australia, Accredited Practising

Dietitian (APD) program.
1. Post graduate experience in providing contemporary high level clinical Nutrition and Dietetics services to patients and families/carers.
2. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with patients and

families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
1. Well developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, with experience working in a team

setting to achieve positive health outcomes.
1. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision of students and/or staff and a commitment to professional development.
2. Proven ability to implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
3. Proven ability to efficiently and effectively manage a high volume workload.

Desirable

1. Post-graduate qualifications or experience in clinical education or speciality practice area.
