About the role

Diamantina Shire Council is seeking an outstanding leader to join the Executive Leadership Team as Director Infrastructure Services, shaping the future of one of Australia's most unique and iconic remote regions. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this pivotal executive role provides strategic leadership across a diverse infrastructure portfolio and plays a key role in achieving Council's long-term vision for sustainable growth, community wellbeing and service excellence. Leading a team of more than 40 staff through six direct reports, you will drive a culture of accountability, innovation, safety and continuous improvement while ensuring critical infrastructure services are delivered efficiently and effectively across the Shire.

Key responsibilities

- Provide executive leadership across strategic asset management and infrastructure planning

- Oversee roads, construction and maintenance programs

- Deliver capital works delivery

- Manage fleet and plant operations

- Lead budget management and financial performance

- Drive long-term asset renewal and sustainability initiatives

- Provide workplace health and safety leadership

- Develop organisational capability and workforce

- Work closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team,



elected members, contractors and government agencies

- Help position Council for future success while ensuring essential services meet community needs

About you

- Significant experience leading infrastructure, works, engineering or asset management functions

- Strong executive leadership capability and sound business acumen

- Ability to successfully lead organisational change and drive performance improvement

- Proven ability to build high-performing teams through coaching, accountability and empowerment

- Proven record of delivering major projects, programs and services within budget

- Understanding of the importance of community, stakeholder and political relationships

- Champion of workplace health and safety and positive organisational culture

- Ability to inspire people, navigate challenges and deliver outcomes in a agile regional setting
