ABC Disability Group is not a passive disability service, and we are not looking for people who want an easy job where they can sit around, spend the day at a shopping centre, be on their phone or simply “fill a shift.”

We are a highly active, hands-on disability service. Our staff are expected to be engaged, motivated, energetic and actively involved with our participants throughout their shifts.

If you are looking for a job where you can sit back and do very little, please do not apply.

If you are working in disability support only for the money, this is probably not the workplace for you.

However, if you genuinely love disability support, enjoy seeing people develop new skills and independence, love watching someone achieve something they never thought they could, or have personal experience supporting a family member or loved one with disability, we would love to hear from you.

ABOUT ABC DISABILITY GROUP

ABC Disability Group is a family-run disability service based in Whittlesea, Victoria.

We pride ourselves on doing things differently.

Many of the participants we support have a strong focus on independence, employment skills, life skills, community participation, friendships and building confidence.

Our participants come to ABC to be active, learn, work, socialise, develop skills and achieve meaningful goals.

This is not a service where participants sit in the same room all day. Our team is constantly out in the community, working with local businesses, participating in programs, developing practical skills and helping our participants become as independent as possible.

We are looking for people who:

- Can support participants within workplaces and community environments
- Are reliable and punctual
- Have strong communication skills
- Can follow support plans, routines and instructions
- Understand professional boundaries
- Work well as part of a team
- Are willing to take initiative
- Can complete documentation accurately and on time
- Keep personal phone use away during participant support
- Understand that participant engagement and safety come first
- Are comfortable being active and involved throughout the day
- Are passionate about helping people achieve real outcomes

We want staff who are present, involved and genuinely interested in the people they support. EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

We are looking for applicants with experience, qualifications, certificates and/or professional development within the disability, community services or related fields.

Relevant qualifications and certificates may include:

- Certificate III in Individual Support – Disability
- Certificate IV in Disability Support
- Certificate IV in Community Services
- Diploma of Community Services
- Disability or Social & Community Services qualifications
- Mental Health training
- Autism-specific training
- Positive Behaviour Support training
- Behaviour support training
- Medication training
- Manual Handling
- Epilepsy and seizure management
- First Aid and CPR
- Mental Health First Aid
- Other disability-related certificates and professional development

Applicants who have undertaken multiple certificates, further training and ongoing professional development within the disability sector will be highly regarded.



We value people who continue developing their skills and knowledge rather than simply completing the minimum requirements to work within the industry.

Previous experience in group supports, workplace supports, community access, respite, camps, life skills or 1:1 disability support will also be highly regarded.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants will need to hold or be willing to obtain all required employment checks and documentation, including:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check
- Current First Aid
- Current CPR
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
- Reliable and suitable vehicle
- Appropriate vehicle insurance
- Required NDIS Worker Orientation training
- Relevant disability-sector checks and documentation
