Disability Support Workers | Complex Behaviour &

Community Supports

Rising Up Support Pathways (RUSP Pathways) - Registered NDIS Provider40••••901 Bundaberg & Hervey Bay | Day, evening, weekend and sleepover shifts

Can you bring calm to a difficult moment—and joy to an ordinary day?

Good support means knowing when to step forward, when to listen and when to give someone the space to do things for themselves. It might mean helping someone feel understood during a difficult morning, building their confidence to get out into the community, or supporting them overnight in the comfort of their own home.

The work matters. How you show up matters just as much.

At Rising Up Support Pathways (RUSP Pathways), we’re recruiting support workers for our established, diverse NDIS caseload, with a particular need for experienced workers to support a participant with complex behaviour support needs.

Whether your strengths are in complex support, personal care, daily living or community participation, we’re looking for people who bring sound judgement, genuine warmth and a willingness to keep learning.

Our approach is human-centred, grounded in three values:

Joy: We make room for connection, shared interests, humour and the everyday moments that make life enjoyable.

Respect: We listen, protect dignity and privacy, and respect each person’s choices, communication and boundaries—including when a day becomes difficult.

Independence: We support choice and control, build confidence and skills, and recognise that independence looks different for everyone.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re not hiring “shift fillers.” We’re building a small, capable team who understand that meaningful support takes more than working through a task list. You may bring professional experience, experience caring for someone in your own life, or both. We value the understanding that comes from walking alongside another person—and the judgement to recognise that their needs and choices may be different from your own.

You’ll probably recognise yourself in some of these:

- You bring patience and perspective. You listen without rushing, remain composed during difficult moments and know when to seek guidance.
- You support without taking over. You respect choice and control, including opportunities to try, make mistakes and learn, while following agreed safeguards.
- You take the details seriously.

You write the shift note properly, communicate changes and follow through because the participant and the next worker deserve accurate information—not because someone is checking.
- You want to grow. You welcome feedback, take training seriously and understand that good support requires ongoing learning.

Complex-support:

We are particularly interested in workers with experience implementing behaviour support plans, recognising early signs of distress, using agreed de-escalation strategies and maintaining clear professional boundaries. You will also actively know how to understand or learn a NDIS participants PBSP Plan and support strategies by actively case noting for our NDIS participants. You need to see the person—not define them by their behaviour.

Life experience is valued, but it does not replace the practical skills, participant-specific training and consistent teamwork this work requires.

What you’ll actually do

Your responsibilities will depend on the participants you support and your demonstrated skills. They may include:

- Support everyday life and personal goals across Supported Independent Living (SIL), Individualised Living Options (ILO), in-home and community settings, following each participant’s plans and respecting their preferences.
- Provide personal care and mealtime support with dignity, discretion and safe hygiene practices. Support meal planning and preparation in line with personal preferences, dietary guidance and any prescribed mealtime management plan.
- Enable community participation, including shopping, appointments, sport, recreation and social connection, while encouraging the participant’s autonomy.
- Support medication and health routines within your training and assessed competency, following medication instructions, documenting accurately and promptly escalating health concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Implement behaviour support and risk-management strategies consistently. Follow the participant’s behaviour support plan,

use regulated restrictive practices only where authorised and within your training and applicable requirements, and support efforts to reduce and eliminate their use.
- Keep clear, objective records, including shift notes, goal progress, behaviour observations and incident reports, using our scheduling software and Microsoft platforms so the team can make informed decisions.

What you need to start

- Certificate III in Individual Support, already held or a commitment to commence within six months of starting.
- The NDIS Worker Orientation Module and relevant NDIS induction modules, completed before commencement.
- A current NDIS Worker Screening clearance, plus a Blue Card where required for work involving children.
- A driver’s licence and reliable transport, together with confidence using Microsoft tools and our shift and scheduling software.
- Genuine availability for day, evening, weekend and sleepover shifts, with clear communication about the availability you can reliably commit to.

Higher relevant qualifications and experience supporting people with complex needs are highly regarded.

What RUSP gives in return
