Role Description SA Metro Care is seeking Disability Support Workers to provide support services across the northern Adelaide suburbs, including Salisbury, Elizabeth, and Munno Para.

In this role, you will support NDIS participants with daily living activities, personal care, community participation, and household tasks. You will work in accordance with participant care plans, Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), and organisational policies to deliver safe, person-centred supports that promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

This role requires experience working with participants who have behaviours of concern and complex support needs, while maintaining professional boundaries and safeguarding practices at all times.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide person-centred support in home and community settings.
- Assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication prompts, mobility support, and household tasks.
- Support participants to access the community, attend appointments, and engage in meaningful activities.
- Implement strategies outlined in Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
- Promote participant independence, choice, and social inclusion.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and incident reports.




- Monitor participant wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with families, behaviour support practitioners, and the broader support team.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and safeguarding requirements.
- Participate in training and professional development activities.

Experience and Skills

- Minimum 1 year of experience supporting participants with behaviours of concern.
- Previous experience in disability support, community services, SIL, or similar support environments.
- Understanding of person-centred and trauma-informed support practices.
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
- Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Understanding of duty of care, safeguarding, and risk management principles.
- Confidence using digital systems, client management software, and electronic records.

Requirements

- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Valid Australian Driver’s License
- Access to a reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willingness to complete)
- Previous experience in disability support, SIL, or complex behaviors preferred
- Understanding of Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) and person-centered practices
- Strong communication, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team
