Disability Support Worker | SIL, Day Programs & Sleepovers | Campbelltown
About the role
Invigorate Ability is growing in Campbelltown and Macarthur, and we need more Disability Support Workers for our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes and our Day Program. We especially need people who can work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons and evenings, and who are happy to do sleepover shifts.
Our SIL homes are in Campbelltown and Eagle Vale, and our Day Program centre is in Mount Annan. In the SIL homes, you help participants with daily living and, during sleepover shifts, stay overnight so they feel safe at home. At the Day Program and Respite Accommodation, you support participants in group activities, out in the community and while they build new skills.
Some of the participants we support have complex psychosocial, behavioural or health support needs. You will work closely with your team leader, behaviour support practitioners and allied health professionals to give consistent, trauma-informed support that keeps everyone safe and settled.
This is a part-time role, with casual options also available. We are building a bigger local team so every participant can be matched with workers they know and get along with.
The shifts we need filled
- Morning or Day shifts
- Afternoon and evening supports
- SIL shifts in our Campbelltown and Eagle Vale homes
- Sleepover shifts (overnight, with the sleepover allowance)
- Day Program shifts at Mount Annan
You don't need to cover all of these, but the more flexible you are, the more hours we can offer.
Please tell us your availability when you apply.
What you'll do
- Support participants with daily living, personal care, meals, medication assistance and household tasks
- Help participants build independence, life skills and community participation
- Run and join in group activities at the Day Program
- Follow Behaviour Support Plans and use positive behaviour support strategies
- Stay calm and skilled when behaviours of concern or complex situations come up
- Write clear, accurate shift notes and incident reports after every shift
- Work with your team leader, the operations manager and allied health professionals
About you
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), Disability or Community Services, or currently studying one
- Experience as a Disability Support Worker, ideally in SIL and/or supporting people with psychosocial disability, intellectual disability or complex needs
- Availability on weekends, afternoons and evenings, and willingness to do sleepovers
- A current driver's licence and a reliable, insured car, as you will travel across Campbelltown and Macarthur
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid and CPR (or willing to get them)
- A calm, patient and reliable approach, clear professional boundaries, and good written English for shift notes
- Australian permanent residency or citizenship (required for this position)
Nice to have: experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans, and training in trauma-informed practice, de-escalation or positive behaviour support.
Why work with us?
- We are a locally owned Registered NDIS Provider, started in 2020 by a former support worker. Our director still occasionally works shifts and knows every participant
- Proper training: 34 online iinduct modules plus face-to-face introductory shifts at our sites
- The same participants each week, with rosters planned carefully so hours stay manageable, and nobody burns out
- Weekend, evening and sleepover rates under the SCHADS Award
- A small, friendly team, with team leaders and management who answer the phone and have your back
Our four values guide how we work: person-centred community, compassion with professional boundaries, accountability and reliability, and growth, learning and excellence. We are all about ability, not disability.
How to apply
Apply through SEEK with your resume and a short cover letter. Please tell us which days and times you are available, and whether you can do sleepovers.
All successful applicants complete NDIS Worker Screening, a Working with Children Check and our iinduct training before starting.
