The Role

As our Assistant Centre Chef, you will work closely with our Centre Chef, Centre Director and educators to support the daily operations of our kitchen.

You will assist with preparing and serving fresh, nutritious and child-friendly meals and snacks while ensuring all dietary requirements, allergies and food safety standards are carefully maintained.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen, has excellent attention to detail and is passionate about providing high-quality food for young children.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Centre Chef with preparing and serving fresh, healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for children.
- Support the preparation of meals that cater to allergies, intolerances, cultural preferences and individual dietary requirements.
- Follow food safety, allergen management and cross-contamination procedures.
- Assist with daily food preparation, portioning and meal service.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Assist with food storage, stock rotation, deliveries and kitchen supplies.




- Complete required food safety, temperature and kitchen records.
- Support the Centre Chef with menu planning and preparation.
- Work collaboratively with the Centre Chef, Centre Director and educators to ensure children's nutritional needs are met.
- Assist with the daily cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and food preparation areas.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and child safety.

What You'll Bring We are looking for someone who is reliable, motivated, organised and passionate about food, with a genuine interest in contributing to the health and wellbeing of young children.

Ideally, you will have:

- Previous experience working in a kitchen, café, restaurant, early learning centre, school, aged care facility or similar environment.
- A passion for preparing fresh, nutritious and appealing meals.
- A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergies and dietary requirements.
- Excellent organisation, time-management and communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the Centre Chef.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Child Protection Training.
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
- Current Food Handler Training.
- All About Allergens Training, or willingness to complete.
- A genuine commitment to child safety and wellbeing.





Previous experience working in an early childhood education setting would be highly regarded; however, applicants with relevant kitchen or hospitality experience are also encouraged to apply. Our Commitment to Child Safety

Pay: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour
