We protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing, and quality of life of people receiving aged care. This includes managing complaints and feedback about the care older people receive.

About the Team The Sector Capability and Regulatory Strategy Division sets the strategic direction and guides the delivery of our risk-based regulatory operations informed by high value intelligence, analysis and data. The Division supports whole of Commission responses to risk issues through regulatory policy responses and campaigns and facilitates sector performance through sharing information with providers and consumers.

The Data, Analytics and Intelligence (DAI) Branch manages and analyses data from the aged care sector and regulatory activities to understand risks and performance for the purposes of prioritising and informing preventative and responsive risk treatments and regulatory decision making.

DAI’s role is to identify risks and guide decisions that inform preventative and responsive risk treatments. DAI supports service delivery through authoritative data and intelligence practice that is contemporary and compliant with relevant legislation, regulations, standards and aligned with the strategic imperatives of the Commission.

About the Role The Assistant Director position plays a key leadership role within DAI, supporting Directors to guide our vision that delivers timely, accurate and actionable products and trusted insights that are easily understood and acted on by our stakeholders.

The role provides strategic advice, translates insights into action, and drives innovation in data practices to build confidence through delivery and meet evolving organisational and government priorities.

Position Duties:

- Lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of data, analytics and intelligence initiatives.
- Provide leadership of a team consistent with statutory responsibilities and the strategic direction and operational policies of the organisation. This includes managing and developing a team of data specialists, promoting a culture of collaboration, curiosity and continuous improvement.




- Establish and implement effective communication systems, both internal and external to Commission to ensure stakeholders are consulted and to disseminate information as required.
- Provide high-quality, strategic advice to the Directors, senior leadership and external stakeholders, including effectively representing DAI at Commission and external forums.
- Drive the adoption of emerging tools, technologies and methodologies to enhance the value of the Commission’s data and regulatory decision-making.

Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria): To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

- Strong experience in engaging with stakeholders in relation to difficult, technical and/or sensitive issues.
- Excellent research, conceptual thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand and clearly communicate complex operational, analytical or data concepts.
- Excellent organisational skills and the capability to self-manage multiple competing priorities while working to tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong quality assurance capability.
- Flexibility to work both independently and with geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong data and regulatory intelligence literacy and reporting skills, including the application of structured analytical techniques.
- Understanding the role and benefits of data, analytics and intelligence in modern regulatory agencies.
- Ability to manage, develop and lead a team including data and intelligence specialist staff.
- (For Data and Products roles) Experience working in Agile delivery teams, particularly as a Product Owner or Technical Lead.
- (For Assistant Director, Data Architecture role) Experience working with cloud data platforms and overseeing the development and maintenance of enterprise data architectures and standards.

Position Notes:

- Salary offered will be between $122,620 to $139,850 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
