GE Vernova | Permanent Full-Time | Electrical / High Voltage Operator
Join GE Vernova’s APAC Field Operations team and play a key technical role supporting our growing renewable energy portfolio across ANZ. As the Electrical Operations Specialist / High Voltage Operator (HVO), you’ll provide technical leadership across our Projects and Services teams, with a strong focus on high voltage operations, electrical safety, compliance, commissioning and maintenance across wind farm and substation assets.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced electrical professional who enjoys working across complex projects, operational sites and diverse stakeholder groups. The role involves regular travel to project and operational sites across ANZ, with flexibility to work remotely when site attendance is not required.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical leadership and support across HV operations, electrical safety, switching, isolation, permitting and LOTO across project and operational sites.
- Act as High Voltage Operator (HVO), Technical Nominee or Electrical Supervisor when required, supporting HV switching, commissioning, testing, outages and maintenance activities.
- Develop, implement and maintain electrical safety, operational and switching procedures, including HV competency and training programs.
- Provide technical oversight of electrical contractors, including licensing, compliance, performance and quality, across Australian states and territories.
- Conduct electrical and HV safety audits and provide technical advice to Operations, Engineering, EHS and Project teams.
- Support the delivery of substation and electrical infrastructure works, including commissioning, testing, maintenance and HV equipment exchanges.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, contractors and network operating authorities while mentoring and supporting electrical personnel across the region.
What We're Looking For
- A Grade Australian Electrical Licence or relevant state equivalent, with the ability to meet Technical Nominee / Electrical Supervisor requirements.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a High Voltage Operator, with current HV training and solid HV/LV operational experience.
- Experience with HV switching, permits, work control, isolation procedures and electrical safety.
- Strong ability to read electrical schematics and develop or implement electrical procedures.
- Experience in generation, transmission, utilities or renewable energy, with substation commissioning, operations or maintenance experience highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of electrical contracting requirements, licensing and compliance across Australian states.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly across ANZ and work on-site, with flexibility to work remotely when site attendance is not required.
