The Electrical Technician will undertake electrical installation, maintenance, testing, fault-finding and commissioning across Shadbolt Group’s defence, maritime and industrial projects in Sydney.

Working within a multidisciplinary project team, the role requires a safety-focused and technically competent electrical professional who can deliver high-quality work in line with project requirements, Australian Standards and Shadbolt Group’s HSEQ standards.

Work may be undertaken across workshops, shipyards, vessels, client facilities and other project locations.

Duties And Responsibilities

- Lead complex electrical fault-finding, diagnostics, repairs and modifications across electrical, control and instrumentation systems, including PLCs, control circuits, interlocks, sensors, actuators, relays and field instrumentation.
- Interpret electrical schematics, control logic, wiring diagrams, technical drawings and OEM documentation to diagnose faults and develop practical solutions.
- Undertake commissioning, functional testing, system verification, calibration and 5000 VDC insulation resistance testing, analysing results to identify faults, deterioration and abnormal trends.
- Apply working knowledge of fibre-optic systems, including fibre types, connectors, signal loss, optical testing and fault diagnosis.
- Provide technical support to engineers, supervisors and trades,



while leading and coordinating a small electrical team and supporting less experienced personnel.
- Ensure all work complies with Australian Standards, defence requirements, OEM specifications, safety procedures and project documentation, maintaining accurate technical, testing, calibration, defect and commissioning records.

About You

- Current South Australian A Grade Electrical Licence - essential.
- Fully licensed A Grade Electrician - essential.
- Minimum 3 years’ post-trade experience in industrial, infrastructure, defence or heavy construction environments.
- Solid knowledge of Australian electrical standards and legislation.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality and delivering excellent workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Australian Citizen - Essential.

Desirable Skills & Experience

- Defence and/or maritime industry experience.
- Instrumentation experience or an instrumentation skillset - Desirable.
- Previous experience leading or supervising electrical trades on projects.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Baseline or higher).
- Working at Heights, EWP or High-Risk Work Licence.
- Current CPR/LVR certification.
