Since our last advertisement, SOLGEO has continued to grow. Not just in projects or equipment, but in people.

We have built a solid little bunch of surveyors and geospatial professionals who work hard, support each other and genuinely believe in creating a great place to work.

Now we are looking for a few more legends to join us.

Truthfully, we never want to become a massive company.

These next hires will probably bring us close to the size where we want to stay — big enough to take on serious projects, but still small enough to know everyone, support each other, maintain a strong community and hold ourselves to a high professional standard.

FIFO Without Giving Your Life Away

Most of these positions will support FIFO projects across WA. Where the projects allow it, we try to keep our rosters as close to even-time as possible.

That can include

- 2:2

We understand that people have partners, kids, mates, hobbies and lives outside of surveying. There will always be times when projects get busy and everyone has to dig in, but we do not want to build a business around permanently burning people out just to chase another dollar.

Good surveyors are hard to find.

Keeping good surveyors means giving them a career they can actually enjoy.

If you are an experienced surveyor on the East Coast who has been thinking about making the jump to WA, have a yarn with us as well. We currently have a one-bedroom apartment available in the Perth CBD that could help make the move considerably easier for the right person.

It could give you somewhere to land while you get established in Perth rather than having to organise everything before you make the move.

We Still Do Things Differently

We are surveyors first. Professional standards, good judgement and quality work will always matter.

But we also believe our profession is changing quickly, and we want to be part of that change rather than fight against it.





We work closely with our clients and partners to show them the real value valuable surveying and geospatial professionals can bring.

That means thinking beyond simply collecting points.

UAVs, scanning, reality capture, digital workflows, GIS, machine control, automation and new technology are becoming a bigger part of what we do.

Through our Netherlands branch and partnerships with technology and software companies, we also get exposure to some genuinely cool things coming into the geospatial space.

We want people who are excited about that.

This Time We Need Some Experience

We have brought some awesome graduates into the team, and they deserve experienced people around them who can help them develop properly. So this time we are looking mainly for surveyors who already have some solid experience behind them.

You do not need to know everything.

You do not need to pretend you know everything either.

What we want are people who:

- Back themselves and take pride in their work
- Can operate independently when required
- Understand engineering, mining or construction surveying
- Are willing to help younger surveyors develop
- Think outside the box when there is a better way of doing something
- Communicate properly with clients, supervisors and the rest of the team
- Are excited about where surveying and geospatial technology are heading
- Are still eager to learn themselves

We will support you. That is part of the deal.

We do not want to become one of those companies that throws people into the deep end, overloads them just to chase another dollar and then wonders why good surveyors leave the industry.

Please Just Be Honest

This one is important. Do not exaggerate your experience.

There is absolutely no need.

If you are strong in some areas and still learning others, tell us.

If you have the fundamentals, a good attitude and the willingness to learn, we can work with that.

We would much rather have an honest surveyor who wants to grow than someone pretending to be something they are not.

We are pretty open with each other at SOLGEO and expect the same back.

What We Have Going On

We have built some awesome partnerships with clients who trust us to do the right thing. That trust has allowed us to work across some very good mining, civil,



infrastructure and geospatial projects while continuing to experiment with better ways of delivering the work.

The team gets exposure to:

- Engineering and construction surveying
- Mining and civil projects
- UAV mapping and LiDAR
- Laser and mobile scanning
- GNSS and control networks
- Machine control
- Digital project workflows
- Reality capture and visualisation
- New geospatial technology and software development

Some days will still involve pegs, bolts, levels and as-cons. We are still surveyors after all.

But we want people who understand there is a lot more our profession can offer.
