Estimator – Residential & Commercial Construction

Vital Ease is a growing construction and home modifications company delivering residential modifications, renovations and commercial building works across Victoria.

We are looking for an experienced Estimator to take ownership of pricing across our residential and commercial divisions. This role will suit someone who is confident reading construction documentation, completing detailed take-offs and turning plans and scopes into accurate, commercially competitive quotes.

The Role

Working closely with our Project Managers, trades, management and business development team, you will be responsible for estimating a broad range of works, from smaller home modifications through to larger renovation and commercial projects.

Your responsibilities will include

- Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for home modifications, renovations and general building works
- Estimate commercial construction and fit-out works from architectural drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation
- Complete accurate quantity take-offs using Groundplan
- Build, price and manage quotations within Simpro
- Review architectural, structural and construction drawings and identify required trades, materials and scope
- Break projects down into labour, materials, subcontractor and other project costs
- Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Review tender documentation and identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks and opportunities
- Prepare detailed scopes of works for trades and subcontractors
- Maintain and regularly review labour rates,



material pricing and subcontractor costs
- Review completed projects against estimated costs to improve future estimating accuracy
- Analyse competitor pricing and market conditions to understand where Vital Ease sits in the market
- Work with management to help shape pricing strategy, margins and estimating policies
- Identify opportunities to improve competitiveness without compromising required margins or project delivery
- Assist with commercial tender submissions and pricing reviews
- Maintain consistent estimating standards across the business

About You We are looking for someone who understands construction and can confidently take a set of plans and work out what needs to be built, what it will cost and how it should be priced.

Ideally, you will have:

- Previous experience as a Construction Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or similar
- Robust ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
- Experience completing detailed construction take-offs
- Good understanding of residential renovations and/or commercial construction
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, labour requirements and trade sequencing
- Experience obtaining and comparing subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of margins and project costs




- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and tenders at the same time
- Strong Excel and general computer skills
- Experience with Groundplan and Simpro is highly regarded

Experience across both residential renovations/home modifications and commercial construction would be particularly valuable.

Employment

This is ideally a full-time position, however we are open to discussing part-time arrangements for an experienced candidate who is the right fit.

Pay: $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
