Ghost in The Rocks 2026

THE ROLE

We're looking for an Event Manager to oversee operations and vendor management during Ghost in The Rocks 2026, a four-night Halloween festival across October 29 - November 1 at The Rocks, Sydney. This is a permanent Sydney-based role starting October 12, 2026.

You'll split your time between:

DURING THE EVENT (Oct 29 - Nov 1)

•⁠ ⁠Exhibitor and vendor management across all zones (live troubleshooting, real-time problem solving, keeping stakeholders happy)

•⁠ ⁠Complaint and special request handling (guest issues, vendor concerns, urgent site decisions)

•⁠ ⁠Bar and alcohol venue operations oversight (ensuring compliance, monitoring service standards, supporting the bars and themed drinking experiences)

•⁠ ⁠Food safety and vendor compliance checks (stall inspections, food handling standards, alcohol licence compliance)

•⁠ ⁠Marquee and site checks (pre-event and post-event security, asset tracking, incident reporting)

•⁠ ⁠Revenue and takings reconciliation

•⁠ ⁠Daily admin reporting and incident log

PRE-EVENT PLANNING (October 12 - October 28)

•⁠ ⁠Alcohol stock planning and inventory management

•⁠ ⁠Supplier orders and logistics coordination

•⁠ ⁠Staff briefing preparation and rosters

•⁠ ⁠In office staff supervision during the event

•⁠ ⁠Vendor setup coordination and compliance verification

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You have at least 4 years' experience in hospitality or event operations (bars, festivals, large public events). You've managed vendors and staff, handled customer complaints calmly, and kept a cool head when things go wrong.

You're detail-oriented but pragmatic. You know which problems need fixing now and which can wait. You understand alcohol compliance (RSA, licence conditions, liability) and food safety standards.





You're a people person. You can brief a team, get the best from vendors, diffuse tension, and make decisions on your feet. You don't panic; you solve.

Essential

•⁠ ⁠Hospitality or events operations experience (bars, festivals, venues, or similar)

•⁠ ⁠Alcohol compliance and responsible service awareness

•⁠ ⁠Vendor management and staff supervision

•⁠ ⁠Complaint handling and problem-solving

•⁠ ⁠Food safety knowledge

•⁠ ⁠Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel)

Highly valued

•⁠ ⁠Festival or multi-day outdoor event experience

•⁠ ⁠Bar or hospitality venue management

•⁠ ⁠Understanding of liquor licence conditions and compliance

•⁠ ⁠Experience with POS systems or takings reconciliation

•⁠ ⁠NSW events or compliance background

SALARY AND LOGISTICS

$75k - $85k per annum plus superannuation (9.5%).

Permanent, full-time.

Based in Sydney (office at The Rocks, with flexibility for remote work during planning phase).

Normal working hours are 38+ per week; you'll work event days (Oct 29 - Nov 1) and increased hours during the week leading to opening (Oct 28).

WHAT THE EVENT IS

Ghost in The Rocks 2026 is a four-night Halloween festival (Oct 29 - Nov 1) presented by Tourism Ireland. Seven key experiences: Poliakov's Haunted Woods (vodka bar + stage), Ghost Cinema, Halloween Market, The Murder Bar (33 Playfair St), Halloween Parade, Casa Spirits Trick or Drink, and Silent Zombie Party at MCA. We're expecting 10,000+ visitors across four nights. Multiple bars, food vendors, licensed trading across The Rocks.
