About the Role

Chelka PTY LTD is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team on a full-time basis in Mount Barker, Western Australia.

The successful applicant will primarily work across Blue gum plantations spreading slash/residue from blue gum harvest.

We are looking for someone with solid excavator operating experience, practical mechanical knowledge and previous experience working in plantation or similar environments.

Key Duties

- Operate excavators safely and efficiently across plantation
- Organise tree stumps, logs and vegetation from harvest
- Spread slash/residue from blue gum harvest.
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections and routine machinery checks(Machines to be greased daily)
- Identify and report mechanical faults or maintenance requirements
- Ability to remove hydraulic hoses if necessary.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and supervisors instructions
- When working alone, maintain regular communication with the supervisor by sending a check-in text message every two hours
- Assist with general site duties as required

Skills and Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Excavator Operator




- Previous experience working in plantation, forestry, agricultural or similar environments
- Good practical knowledge of excavators and basic mechanical systems
- Ability to carry out basic machinery inspections and identify mechanical issues
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Current WA C Class driver's licence
- Relevant excavator competency, ticket or qualification is highly regarded
- Must be able to successfully complete a drug and alcohol test
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
