About Us

Harvest Launceston Community Farmers' Market (Harvest) is an independent association led by a Board of Directors, representing a membership of Tasmanian growers, makers and producers.

Since 2012, Harvest has grown into one of Tasmania's most recognised community assets, bringing people together around local food and the hard-working producers behind it.

Held every Saturday in central Launceston, Harvest is a pillar of Launceston's UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy story, with established relationships across community, industry and government.

Harvest is committed to the long-term strength and sustainability of the market and its producer community and is now seeking an Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next chapter.

About the Role

Reporting to the Board, the Executive Officer (EO) provides strategic leadership to Harvest, positioning it for long-term sustainability and impact. This is a part-time role, requiring a commitment of 2–3 days per week, with a high degree of autonomy and genuine influence. You'll shape the future of the market, strengthen its connection to primary producers and community, and expand its footprint across the broader food, tourism and regional economy.

You Will:

- Provide strategic leadership to Harvest, partnering with the Board to set direction and priorities that shape the organisation's future.

- Champion a collaborative, accountable culture and lead Harvest confidently through a period of change and growth.

- Be the face of Harvest across Council, government, producers, partners and other key stakeholders, building influence and trust..

- Drive delivery of the Strategic Plan, translating ambition into action and shaping Harvest's future direction

- Elevate market operations,



ensuring Harvest consistently delivers a world-class experience for producers and patrons alike.

- Forge strategic, commercial and local partnerships that strengthen Harvest and grow opportunities for its producer community.

- Drive strong, sustainable financial performance, working with the Treasurer and outsourced providers to ensure Harvest's future.

- Strengthen governance, policies and systems, ensuring they evolve in step with Harvest's growth.

- Provide the Board with clear insight and robust reporting to support sound governance and confident decision-making.

- Navigate complex and sensitive matters with judgement, discretion and diplomacy, protecting Harvest's reputation and relationships.

About You

Essential

- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role involving strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and organisational leadership.

- Robust relationship management, influencing and negotiation capability.

- Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen.

- Experience working with or reporting to a Board.

- High-level written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to operate with initiative, judgement and discretion.

Desirable
- Experience in not-for-profit, community or place-based organisations.

- Knowledge of agriculture, food systems, tourism or regional economies.

You'll bring exceptional strategic thinking, the ability to build trust with a broad range of stakeholders at a local, national and global scale, a collaborative and pragmatic approach, and strong personal integrity.
