Lynas Rare Earths is seeking an experienced Plant Metallurgist to join our Mt Weld Operations. This is a FIFO position from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations on an 8/6 roster.

This role is responsible for driving process improvements across the Mt Weld operation, with a focus on process safety, NdPr and DyTb recoveries, product quality, variable costs and greenhouse gas emissions. You will provide technical expertise to the Mt Weld Production Team and identify opportunities to improve operational performance through flowsheet optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.

As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team, you will:

- Identify and deliver improvement projects focused on reducing variable costs, increasing NdPr and DyTb recoveries and reducing residue generation.
- Provide metallurgical support to ensure protected, stable, and efficient plant operations
- Monitor operational performance and provide technical advice and guidance to the Mt Weld Production Team.




- Support troubleshooting and corrective actions relating to product quality, chemical consumption and recovery targets.
- Lead continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives
- Maintain metallurgical accounting systems and reporting accuracy
- Approve and implement process changes in accordance with Management of Change requirements.
- Undertake laboratory investigations and process verification.
- Mentor and develop members of the Process Improvement Team.
- Identify and implement improvements relating to process safety, water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, tailings and by-products.
- Promote strong HSE and quality assurance standards

What you will bring to the team:

- Bachelor of Chemical Engineering or another relevant process engineering qualification.
- WA C Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
- Extensive experience within a chemical, petrochemical or mineral processing plant
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and process optimisation skills.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Highly regarded:

- Experience in comminution, flotation, dewatering, water treatment, pyrometallurgical cracking, leaching and/or precipitation operations.
