A busy hospitality venue in the heart of Sydney’s CBD is looking for an experienced Senior Chef to join its professional kitchen team.
This is a hands-on position suited to a skilled chef who can lead service, maintain high food standards and support the Head Chef with the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present dishes to consistently high standards.
- Lead allocated kitchen sections during busy service periods.
- Supervise and support chefs, cooks and junior kitchen staff.
- Assist with menu planning, daily specials and recipe development.
- Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation.
- Manage food preparation and ensure timely delivery of meals.
- Assist with ordering, stock control, stock rotation and inventory checks.
- Minimise wastage and support food and labour cost controls.
- Ensure compliance with food-safety, hygiene and workplace-safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.
- Support staff training, performance and kitchen procedures.
- Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen management when required.
About you
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent qualification.
- At least two years of relevant experience in a busy commercial kitchen.
- Strong cooking, leadership and organisational skills.
- Ability to remain calm and productive during high-volume service.
- Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
- Reliable, professional and able to work effectively within a team.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
