Bring your skills to one of King Street’s best-known kitchens Established in 1887, Newtown Hotel is a much-loved community venue offering classic pub favourites, quality pizzas and relaxed dining across its Public Bar, Balcony Bar & Bistro and Courtyard.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Chef who can handle a busy service, produce consistently great food and work well as part of an energetic kitchen team.

What you’ll be doing

- Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to established venue standards.
- Running an allocated section during busy lunch and dinner services.
- Ensuring meals are delivered promptly and consistently.
- Checking the quality, freshness and presentation of ingredients and finished dishes.
- Assisting with daily preparation, stock rotation and inventory control.
- Reducing food waste and maintaining appropriate portion sizes.
- Following food-safety, hygiene and workplace-safety procedures.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and productive kitchen.
- Supporting the Head Chef with menu preparation and daily kitchen operations.




- Contributing ideas for specials and seasonal menu items.
- Assisting and guiding junior kitchen staff when required.

What we’re looking for
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in a busy pub, bistro or high-volume kitchen.
- Strong cooking, preparation and presentation skills.
- Ability to remain organised and calm under pressure.
- Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
- A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team.
- Availability to work a flexible roster, including evenings and weekends.
