About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Irrigation Systems Specialist to manage and maintain their advanced irrigation infrastructure in and around Queenstown . This role is critical for ensuring efficient water usage, crop health, and optimal yield through the effective design, installation, operation, and maintenance of sophisticated irrigation systems. You will work closely with farm managers and agronomists to implement water-saving technologies and solutions tailored to the specific needs of diverse crops. This is an on-site position essential for the agricultural success of operations in the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

- Design, install, and commission recent irrigation systems, including drip, sprinkler, and centre-pivot systems.
n
- Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on all irrigation equipment, pumps, filters, and pipelines.
n
- Monitor soil moisture levels and weather data to optimize irrigation schedules and water application rates.
n
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to irrigation system performance and water distribution uniformity.
n
- Maintain detailed records of irrigation system performance, water usage,



and maintenance activities.
n
- Educate farm staff on the proper operation and maintenance of irrigation equipment.

Requirements

- Proven experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of agricultural irrigation systems.
n
- Strong knowledge of different irrigation technologies, water management principles, and hydraulics.
n
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system specifications.
n
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for irrigation systems.
n
- Good understanding of crop water requirements and soil science.
n
- Valid driver's license and ability to work in outdoor field conditions in the Queenstown area.
