About the Role

We are looking for a Project Engineer Managerwho plans, organises, directs, controls and coordinates engineering projects and technical operations across the organisation’s manufacturing and warehousing facilities. The role determines and implements engineering strategies, project plans, technical standards, capital budgets and asset improvement priorities to support safe, reliable and efficient operations.

The position has responsibility for overseeing engineering design, equipment installations, facility upgrades, automation, commissioning and technical improvement programs. It provides technical leadership to internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants and suppliers and ensures engineering work complies with approved specifications, budgets, schedules, applicable legislation, safety requirements and organisational standards.

This is an onsite position based at the company’s Eastern Creek facility, with travel to other operational and project sites as reasonably required.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement and monitor engineering strategies, technical standards, capital plans and asset improvement priorities across manufacturing and warehousing operations.

Plan, organise, direct and control engineering projects involving production equipment, automation, facility infrastructure, warehouse systems, process improvements and site expansions.

Establish and manage project scopes, schedules, capital budgets, resource requirements, technical specifications, risk controls and performance measures.

Prioritise engineering projects and asset improvements in consultation with the Operations Director and key stakeholders across manufacturing, maintenance, quality, WHS, supply chain, finance and procurement.

Provide technical leadership and allocate work to multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, consultants,



suppliers and technical service providers; monitor performance and ensure delivery against agreed safety, quality, cost, schedule and technical requirements.

Review engineering drawings, designs, plans and specifications, and provide direction on engineering methods and procedures required to achieve construction, production and operational outcomes.

Evaluate engineering proposals, equipment options and technical solutions through feasibility studies, risk assessments, cost‑benefit analysis and lifecycle‑cost evaluation, and recommend or approve solutions within delegated authority.

Ensure engineering projects and technical operations comply with approved specifications, contractual requirements, applicable legislation, regulations, safety standards and environmental obligations.

Oversee construction, installation, testing, commissioning, validation, handover and post‑implementation review, resolving technical issues and implementing corrective action where required.

Manage project risks, design changes, budget variances, schedule delays and contractor performance, and escal material technical, commercial or operational risks to senior management.

Oversee engineering‑related maintenance and asset improvement requirements to optimise equipment reliability, capacity, efficiency, safety and operational performance.

Develop and control engineering and capital project budgets, monitor expenditure and provide regular financial and project performance reporting to senior management.

Manage the selection, engagement and performance of engineering consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers and technical service providers in collaboration with procurement and other relevant stakeholders.

Maintain engineering governance and accurate technical records, including drawings, specifications, approvals, change‑control records, commissioning documentation, compliance certificates and project close‑out records.

Liaise with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, WHS, supply chain and commercial teams regarding the engineering aspects of new equipment, facility developments, production changes and product introductions.

Lead or support research, development, automation and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen manufacturing capability, productivity, quality and operational efficiency..

Working with: Plant Manager, senior leadership team, Manufacturing,



Maintenance, Quality, Work Health and Safety, Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement, project personnel, engineering consultants, contractors, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, regulators and other technical service providers.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or another engineering discipline relevant to the organisation’s operations.

Project management qualification, such as PMP or PRINCE2, is desirable.

Training or certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, asset management or continuous improvement is desirable.

Demonstrated knowledge of engineering design, project management, manufacturing systems, risk management and applicable Australian technical and safety requirements.

Work Experience and Skills

Minimum five years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial, warehousing, logistics, infrastructure or a related operational environment.

Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects, technical operations, capital expenditure programs or multidisciplinary engineering workstreams.

Proven responsibility for engineering project budgets, schedules, resources, technical standards, risk management and contractor performance.

Demonstrated experience directing contractors, consultants, suppliers, project personnel or cross‑functional technical teams.

Experience managing equipment installations, process upgrades, automation, facility improvements, commissioning and operational handover.

Strong experience interpreting engineering plans, drawings and specifications and providing advice on engineering methods and technical solutions.

Demonstrated experience ensuring engineering work conforms to legislation, safety requirements, specifications, budgets and organisational standards.

Experience working with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, WHS, supply chain and senior operational stakeholders.

Experience preparing and presenting engineering strategies, capital proposals, technical recommendations and project performance reports to senior management.
