McArthur is currently seeking an experienced Social Worker for an immediate contract chance within a hospital environment in Wollongong.

This is an initial 3-month assignment with the potential to extend. The role can accommodate 3-5 days per week (part time or full time), with full-time availability preferred.

The opportunity

Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide social work support to patients and their families across a range of presentations and circumstances.

Your responsibilities may include:

- Undertaking psychosocial assessments and providing appropriate social work interventions
- Supporting patients and families through complex health and personal circumstances
- Contributing to discharge planning and coordination of ongoing supports
- Working collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professionals
- Connecting patients and families with appropriate community and support services
- Supporting patients with aged care and/or palliative care needs
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and case records

About you

To be considered, you will ideally have:





- A recognised qualification in Social Work
- Previous Social Work experience within a hospital or healthcare environment
- Experience working with aged care and/or palliative care patients would be highly regarded
- Strong psychosocial assessment and case management skills
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in a busy clinical environment
- Current or eligible membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Ability to satisfy relevant pre-employment and compliance requirements, including a National Police Check
