About The Opportunity

This is a hands‑on operational leadership role responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day transport operation at our Hazelmere Depot, with a particular focus on the Dangerous Goods (DG) side of the business. You’ll lead a team of drivers and operational employees, coordinating trip movements, fleet and equipment allocation, rostering and service delivery while ensuring operations remain safe, compliant and efficient. Working closely with drivers, internal stakeholders and receiving depots, you’ll play a key role in keeping freight moving, supporting driver wellbeing and maintaining high standards across the operation.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support the day‑to‑day transport and Dangerous Goods operations at Hazelmere.
- Provide strong leadership to drivers and operational teams, fostering a positive and accountable workplace culture.
- Coordinate daily trip movements, including the allocation of prime movers, trailers and equipment.
- Manage driver rosters and workforce planning to ensure appropriate operational coverage.
- Ensure operations comply with fatigue management legislation, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and DG requirements.
- Monitor freight movements, scanning and manifesting to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Coordinate departure schedules and maintain explicit communication with receiving depots and internal stakeholders.
- Proactively manage operational issues, service delays and driver concerns, escalating where required.
- Support driver performance, engagement and retention through effective communication and leadership.
- Ensure licences, medicals, training and other mandatory compliance requirements remain current.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
- Work collaboratively with People & Capability on performance, employee relations and workplace matters.




- Participate in weekend work and a rotational after‑hours contact roster.

About You

We're looking for an experienced transport leader who is confident managing people, making decisions in a fast‑paced environment and keeping an operation moving.

You’ll Ideally Have

- Previous experience supervising teams within a transport or logistics environment.
- Experience working with Dangerous Goods operations and relevant compliance requirements.
- Robust knowledge of transport scheduling, freight movements, scanning and manifesting.
- An understanding of fatigue management, CoR and transport compliance requirements.
- Strong planning, rostering and workforce coordination skills.
- Experience managing fleet, equipment and driver allocation.
- The ability to build strong relationships with drivers and internal stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to safety, compliance, service delivery and problem solving.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
- Proficiency with transport systems and Microsoft Office.
