About the Role

As a GLT Team Leader for the Paint Team, you will be hands-on in the painting and coating process while also leading daily team operations. You will prepare, paint, coat, and finish manufactured products to meet GLT quality standards and customer specifications, while planning and coordinating work in line with the Production Schedule. This role includes motivating, encouraging, and recognising your team's performance; maintaining a safe working environment; and managing the supplies, plant, and equipment needed to keep production running efficiently. You will also have responsibility for the operation, upkeep, and safe use of key Paint Team facilities including spray booths, sand blast booths, and wash bay booths. You will play a key role in both the practical completion and leadership of painting activities, contributing to the quality, presentation, and safe delivery of GLT's final products.

In this role, you'll:

Lead the Paint Team to complete work safely, efficiently, and in line with the Production Schedule.

Actively prepare, paint, coat, and finish manufactured products to meet GLT quality standards and customer specifications.

Assign, coordinate, and monitor daily paint work, ensuring priorities, deadlines, and quality expectations are understood by the team.

Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, washing, sand blasting, sanding, masking, and priming.

Mix and match paints, coatings, and finishes to required specifications.

Apply coatings using spray equipment and other tools to achieve a consistent, high-quality finish.

Inspect completed work, identify surface defects or imperfections, and support corrective action where required.

Motivate, encourage,



and recognise team performance while supporting a positive and accountable team culture.

Maintain a secure working environment, including safe handling of paints and chemicals, correct PPE use, and prompt reporting of hazards, faults, or quality issues.

Coordinate the operation and upkeep of the sand blast booth, ensuring equipment is maintained, work areas remain safe and clean, and blasting activities meet quality and safety requirements.

Coordinate the operation and upkeep of the wash bay booths, ensuring trailers and components are appropriately cleaned and prepared to support downstream paint quality requirements.

Manage spray booths, sand blast booths, wash bay booths, supplies, plant, equipment, and tools to ensure they are clean, safe, available, and maintained to GLT standards ready for production.

Work collaboratively with other production teams to support production flow, quality outcomes, and on-time delivery.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Previous experience as a Spray Painter, Industrial Painter, or Paint Technician in a manufacturing, industrial,



automotive, or similar environment is essential.

Experience leading, coordinating, or supervising a small production team is highly desirable.

Trade qualification in Industrial or Commercial Painting is desirable but not essential, depending on experience.

Competence in painting techniques, paint application methods, surface preparation, and finish-quality checks.

Experience working with spray booths, sand blasting equipment, wash bays, industrial coatings, paints, chemicals, and related safety requirements.

Ability to read and follow job instructions, drawings, specifications, and production schedules.

Good time management, organisation, and ability to coordinate work to meet production targets.

Problem-solving skills to identify finish defects, equipment issues, workflow delays, or quality concerns and support timely resolution.

Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production, quality, and leadership teams.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods while preparing, painting, inspecting, and finishing products.

Repetitive hand and arm movements associated with spray-painting, sanding, masking, and finishing work.

Ability to lift, move, and position materials, tools, and equipment within safe limits.

Comfortable working in a production, workshop, paint, sand blasting, and wash bay environment.

Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators, protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection.
