You've Outgrown Your Current Role. What's Next?
Ready for More Than Just Another Service Desk Job?
Are you great at what you do but starting to feel like you've hit a ceiling?
Maybe you've mastered the day-to-day demands of Service Desk support. Maybe you're solving most issues that come your way and looking for more complex technical challenges. Perhaps you're eager to work with cloud technologies, cybersecurity solutions, infrastructure projects and advanced troubleshooting, but your current role keeps pulling you back into repetitive support tasks.
You know you're capable of more.
At Bluescale, we're looking for ambitious Service Desk Engineers who want to accelerate their technical careers and develop into the next generation of senior engineers, project engineers and technical specialists.
This isn't a traditional Service Desk role.
You’ll work across operational systems, networks, communications, devices and emerging technologies, helping ensure our customers have reliable technology when and where they need it.
About Bluescale
Since 2010, Bluescale has been delivering a better IT experience to Small and Medium Businesses and Not-for-Profit organisations across NSW.
As a boutique Managed Service Provider, we become an extension of our clients' businesses, managing their technology end-to-end. Our engineers work across a broad range of environments and technologies, gaining hands-on experience that simply isn't available in many internal IT teams.
We believe talented people should be given opportunities to grow when they're ready, not when someone else leaves.
Why Join Bluescale?
At Bluescale, you'll work directly with clients, solve genuine business challenges, and gain exposure to technologies that will significantly broaden your technical capability.
What You'll Get
- Exposure to Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, networking, cybersecurity and virtualisation technologies
- Opportunities to work on complex technical issues that expand your problem-solving skills
- A clear pathway towards senior engineering,
project delivery and technical leadership roles
- Direct access to experienced engineers, mentors and business leaders
- Opportunities to contribute to technical projects, migrations and infrastructure improvements
- A workplace where initiative, ownership and curiosity are recognised and rewarded
- The chance to make a visible impact rather than being just another number in a large organisation
- Ongoing technical training and professional development
What You'll Be Doing
As a Service Desk Systems Support Engineer, you'll do far more than respond to tickets.
You'll be responsible for delivering exceptional client outcomes while continually developing your technical expertise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Resolving technical issues across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, networking and security platforms.
- Investigating and troubleshooting complex incidents that require critical thinking and advanced problem-solving skills.
- Providing technical leadership by assisting junior engineers and sharing knowledge across the team.
- Supporting cloud, infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions across multiple client environments.
- Participating in technical projects, migrations and system improvements.
- Building robust client relationships through outstanding communication and service delivery.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation and knowledge articles.
- Prioritising and managing incidents and requests to meet service levels and customer expectations.
- Coordinating with technology vendors and partners to resolve complex issues.
- Participating in on‑call support and scheduled maintenance activities.
We're Looking For People Who
- Learn faster than they're taught.
- Enjoy solving challenging technical problems.
- Want more responsibility, not less.
- Take ownership and accountability for outcomes.
- Are curious, driven and professionally ambitious.
- Continuously look for ways to improve systems, processes and customer experiences.
- Want to develop advanced technical skills and progress their career.
- Aspire to become future Senior Engineers, Project Engineers, Technical Consultants or Technical Leaders.
About You
- 1-2 years' experience in a Service Desk, MSP or IT support environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Experience supporting Microsoft technologies including:
- Microsoft 365
- Windows Server
- Active Directory
- Experience with networking technologies including switches, firewalls and wireless infrastructure.
- Exposure to virtualisation technologies such as VMware ESXi.
- Experience with endpoint security and EDR solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a high-performing team.
- Industry certifications are highly regarded, but attitude, aptitude and a willingness to learn are equally important.
Qualifications
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Relevant IT certifications are advantageous (Microsoft, Cisco Meraki, VMware and related technologies).
- Degree in Information Technology or a related field (preferred but not essential).
If You're Ready for the Next Step
