Western Downs Digital Park

Western Downs Digital Park is a major new hyperscale data centre campus in Queensland. The first building is in construction and future buildings will follow. Its scale, high-voltage systems and specialist construction activities demand strong, visible safety leadership throughout delivery.

The role

The Senior Manager, Safety will own HSE delivery across WDDP, from the current building through the mobilisation of future phases. You will define and run the site HSE plan, hold contractors to their obligations and make sure high-risk work is planned, controlled and carried out safely.

This is a hands‑on leadership role with a growing site safety team and daily contact with project leaders, general contractors, specialist vendors and subcontractors. You will have stop‑work authority and will help build a culture in which workers raise hazards early and everyone goes home safely.

What you will lead

- The WDDP HSE plan, site safety programme, critical risk register, performance measures and resourcing approach.
- HSE requirements in general contractor and specialist vendor engagements, from tender and mobilisation through delivery.
- Review of contractor safety plans, emergency response arrangements, inductions,



permits and controls for high-risk work.
- Visible site engagement, inspections, audits, near‑miss reporting and timely corrective action.
- Incident response, investigation, regulatory notification and the closure of findings.
- Clear reporting on leading indicators, contractor performance and material risks to WDDP leadership and the APAC HSE function.
- Development of the site safety team and the safety standards that will support the transition into operations.

What you will bring

You will be a senior HSE leader who has worked on complex, high‑risk construction projects and knows how to influence both project executives and people carrying out the work. Data centre, high‑voltage or MEP‑intensive project experience would be particularly relevant.

- Around 10 years or more of progressive HSE experience in major construction or infrastructure delivery.
- Experience managing principal contractor and specialist vendor safety performance on an active site.
- A robust working knowledge of Australian construction safety obligations, incident investigation and regulator engagement; Queensland experience is highly regarded.
- Practical understanding of controls for energisation, HV switching, working at height, confined spaces and other high-risk activities.
- Experience with HSE management systems, audits, risk reporting and corrective action management.
- The confidence to stop unsafe work, report difficult facts clearly and build trust across a diverse workforce.
