Medical Administration Officer/Receptionist – Obstetrics & Gynaecology Practice
Dr Liam Dunn Obstetrician and Gynaecological Surgeon – East Toowoomba QLD
You will be responsible for welcoming patients and visitors in a friendly and skilled manner, managing appointments, phone calls, enquiries and correspondence, and maintaining accurate and confidential patient records using the practice management system. This is a varied, patient-focused role for someone who takes pride in providing exceptional service while maintaining accurate and efficient medical administration within a specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology practice.
Key responsibilities
- Welcoming patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Managing appointments, phone calls, enquiries and correspondence
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records using practice management system
- Processing patient accounts, payments, receipts and EFTPOS transactions
- Debtor management and daily banking reconciliation
- Liaising professionally with hospitals, general practitioners, pathology providers, diagnostic imaging providers, pharmacies, allied health providers and other healthcare organisations
- Booking surgery and theatre lists
- Managing referrals, reports, scanning,
filing and general medical administration
- Supporting doctors, midwives and the wider clinical team
- Assisting with practice operations, stock management and general administration
- Assistance in clinical duties and chaperoning, e.g. handling of clinical specimens and use of PPE
About you
- Previous experience in medical administration or reception, ideally within a specialist practice
- Confident with medical software and electronic records; Gentu experience highly regarded
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Warm, professional and compassionate communication with a strong patient focus
- High level of confidentiality, professionalism and discretion
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy team
- Reliable, proactive and committed to delivering exceptional patient care
- Willingness to learn specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology processes and terminology
- Established and supportive specialist practice
