Industrial Technology / Design & Technologies Teacher

SCOTS PGC College is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic secondary teacher to join our team and contribute to the delivery of Industrial Technology & Design Technologies in 2027 and beyond. This full-time position provides an opportunity for an educator with strong practical industry knowledge to inspire students through authentic, project-based learning that combines traditional workshop skills with contemporary design, digital manufacturing, electronics and emerging technologies. The successful applicant will teach across Industrial Technology and Design Technologies, supporting students to develop practical skills, creativity, technical knowledge and confidence through the complete design and manufacturing process. The role may also contribute to the College's WorkWays pathway, supporting students pursuing vocational, trade, apprenticeship, traineeship and other industry-focused pathways as the College continues to strengthen its career and future-readiness programs in 2027.

Key responsibilities

- Teach across Industrial Technology and Design & Technologies curricula
- Guide students through the complete design process, including identifying needs, researching, generating ideas, developing concepts, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, evaluating and refining solutions
- Deliver the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 Design & Technologies curriculum
- Develop engaging curriculum programs, practical projects, units, assessment tasks and learning sequences
- Create clear student workbooks, tutorials, instructional resources and structured practical activities
- Differentiate practical and theoretical learning for students with diverse learning needs and levels of experience




- Maintain strong classroom management in practical workshop environmentsUse design thinking and project-based learning to develop student independence and problem-solving
- Connect learning with real-world construction, manufacturing, engineering and trade applications
- Develop employability skills including communication, teamwork, professionalism, time management and workplace problem-solving

About you

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and a recognised teaching qualification
- Current, or eligibility for, Queensland College of Teachers registration
- Woodworking, timber construction, joinery, metalworking, MIG welding and fabrication expertise
- Safe operation and maintenance of workshop machinery, power tools and hand tools
- Workshop management, including materials, equipment, consumables, storage, purchasing and stock control
- Workplace health and safety, including risk assessment, hazard identification and Protected Operating Procedures
- Effective instruction and supervision of students in practical and higher-risk workshop environments
- CAD, 3D modelling and design for manufacture, particularly using Autodesk Fusion 360
- Digital fabrication technologies, including CNC manufacturing and FDM or resin 3D printing
- Strong commitment to student wellbeing, safety and inclusive educational practice
