Cook Shire Council is looking for a Human Resources Advisor to join our People, Performance and Safety team and provide trusted HR advice and support across the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

- Provide practical HR advice to Managers and Supervisors on people, performance and conduct matters.
- Coach leaders to build their confidence and capability in managing people.
- Interpret and apply employment legislation, industrial instruments and policies.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment across Council.
- Contribute to HR programs, projects and policy initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the broader People, Performance and Safety team.

What We're Looking For

- Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline, together with substantial generalist HR experience.
- Experience working under the Queensland industrial relations framework desirable (Qld IR Act 2016).
- The confidence to work independently and use initiative when dealing with complex or less-defined matters.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- A practical, proactive and customer-focused approach.
- The ability to manage a varied caseload, meet deadlines and stay calm when things get busy.
- Confidentiality, discretion and sound judgement.

Location: Council's Main Administration Office - 10 Furneaux Street, Cooktown

Tenure: Full Time. 2 Years Maximum Term.

Remuneration: Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A: Division 2, Section 1) Award – State 2017

Level 5 to 6

Between $95,367 and $106,128 per annum

Leave Entitlements: 5 weeks annual leave per annum

15 days personal leave per annum

9 day fortnight

Superannuation: 12% Superannuation contributions
