Can Bay, Queensland, is a fuel and convenience retail business serving local residents, travellers and the surrounding community. The business provides fuel and a range of convenience retail products, with a focus on reliable service, product availability and a positive customer experience. As part of its ongoing operations, Tin Can Bay Travel Stop is seeking an experienced and capable Retail Manager to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the retail establishment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing store operations, stock and inventory control, purchasing and supplier coordination, staff supervision and training, financial and transaction records, customer service standards, merchandising, and workplace health and safety compliance. The role requires solid leadership, organisational and retail management skills to support the efficient and commercially effective operation of the business.

- Salary: $85,000 plus Superannuation

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and oversee the day-to-day retail operations, ensuring efficient and consistent operation of the business.
- Determine appropriate product mix, stock levels and customer service standards based on business requirements and customer demand.
- Manage inventory levels and coordinate the ordering, purchasing and replenishment of convenience retail products and other store merchandise.
- Liaise with suppliers, review product availability and pricing, and coordinate purchasing arrangements to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Monitor sales performance, operating costs and financial transactions and contribute to budgeting and financial control.
- Maintain accurate records relating to stock levels, sales,



purchases and other retail transactions.
- Coordinate merchandising, product displays, promotions and pricing to support sales performance and customer engagement.
- Recruit, train, roster, supervise and support retail staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective store operations.
- Establish and monitor customer service standards and address customer enquiries, feedback and complaints as required.
- Monitor cash-handling, point-of-sale and daily transaction procedures to maintain accurate financial controls.
- Ensure the premises are maintained to appropriate presentation, operational and safety standards.
- Implement and monitor workplace policies and procedures, including workplace health and safety requirements relevant to the retail and service-station environment.
- Monitor overall store performance and implement operational improvements to support efficiency, customer service and business performance.

Required Skills and Experience:

- Relevant qualification in retail management, business, management or a related field, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in retail management or managing the operations of a retail establishment.
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, rostering, training and day-to-day team management.
- Sound experience in inventory management, stock control, purchasing and supplier coordination.
- Understanding of retail sales, merchandising, pricing and customer service standards.
- Ability to maintain and monitor stock, sales and financial transaction records.
- Sound understanding of budgeting, cost control and retail business performance.
- Strong leadership, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and operational compliance.
- Previous management experience within a service station, convenience store or similar retail environment will be highly regarded.
