Where you'll be working

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

Bulli Hospital opened in August 2020. It has been designed and specifically tailored to meet the needs of the District’s growing population. The facility, which sits opposite the old hospital in Hospital Road, provides inpatient, outpatient and allied health services, as well as the Urgent Care Centre.

Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy rural hospital which employs over 1,000 staff and is the main acute care hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical,



surgical and orthopaedic services. Shoalhaven Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit. Shoalhaven Hospital is currently undergoing a $438 million redevelopment.

What you'll be doing

The Advanced Trainee will, under supervision, provide effective medical services within a patient-centric geriatric model of care to patients, while developing expertise in Geriatrician-led interdisciplinary care and management practice, in a complex clinical environment. The Advanced Trainee will have the opportunity to rotate through subspecialty modules within Geriatric Medicine including orthogeriatrics as well as acute and subacute patient care. The position is accredited with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the appointment can be made for up to two years. The position may involve a rotation to Shoalvien which will include community and outreach plus acute inpatients and orthogeriatrics.
