The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Accounts Officer to join our Brisbane CBD finance team.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll be responsible for a broad range of accounting activities across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and month-end processing. While Accounts Payable is a key component of the role, you'll also be heavily involved in reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments, liquidity reporting and other month-end accounting activities.
Working across multiple entities, you'll support the preparation of accurate financial information while helping ensure day-to-day finance operations run smoothly. This role would suit an experienced Accounts Officer who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work and is comfortable balancing transactional processing with month-end accounting responsibilities.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable & Transactional Accounting

- Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely payment
- Prepare and process payment runs in accordance with established approval processes
- Manage supplier accounts and respond to invoice and payment queries
- Reconcile bank accounts and corporate credit cards
- Monitor corporate credit card expenditure and ensure compliance with company policies
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation and financial records

Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and issue customer invoices
- Allocate customer payments and reconcile customer accounts
- Manage debtor follow-up activities and outstanding invoices for allocated entities
- Respond to customer account enquiries and resolve discrepancies

Month-End & Reporting Support




- Assist with month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and intercompany transactions
- Ensure fixed asset depreciation is calculated, reviewed and posted accurately and on time
- Prepare liquidity statements within agreed timeframes
- Prepare BAS and PAYG reconciliations
- Review General Ledger coding and investigate discrepancies where required
- Support the preparation of management and financial reporting information

Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Follow established payment verification, approval and financial control processes
- Maintain documentation to support audit and compliance requirements
- Escalate discrepancies, errors or unusual transactions appropriately
- Contribute to improvements across finance processes and systems
- Provide general support to the wider finance team as required

What We're Looking For
Essential

- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or currently working towards completion
- 3-5 years' experience in an Accounts Officer, Finance Officer or similar accounting support role
- Solid Accounts Payable experience
- Experience using accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks or similar platforms
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and reporting functions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support the wider team

Desirable
- Experience working across multiple entities
- Exposure to month-end accounting processes
- Experience using SharePoint, timesheet systems or related business applications
