Lead a growing international film packaging business across three markets

Ball & Doggett is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead it’s Impak Films division across Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Impak Films is a specialist flexible packaging business supplying high-value plastic packaging films into technically demanding food and industrial packaging markets. The business operates across three distinct markets, with its head office based in Melbourne and a North American operation based in Atlanta, Georgia.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially driven General Manager who can bring together strategy, profitable growth, customer relationships and operational performance across a multi-country business.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO of Ball & Doggett, you will have full P&L; accountability for the Impak Films business across Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

You will develop and execute a unified commercial strategy across the three markets, while recognising the different customer, product, regulatory and competitive environments in each geography.

A key focus of the role will be profitable growth, particularly through new business development in North America, while strengthening existing customer and supplier relationships and building a high-performing, multi-country leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the overall strategy and performance of the Impak Films business across Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Take full responsibility for P&L;, budgeting, forecasting, margin management and commercial performance.

Develop and execute a multi-country commercial strategy, translating it into effective local market execution.

Drive new business development and growth across key accounts, with a particular focus on expanding the North American market.

Identify current market,



customer and product opportunities across the flexible films portfolio, including BOPP, PET, CPP, nylon and specialty/coated structures.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, manufacturers and converters.

Lead, develop and hold accountable a geographically dispersed leadership team, including the US Commercial Director and Australian team.

Establish effective organisational structures, capability development and succession planning to support sustainable growth.

Ensure the business operates within relevant employment, contractual and regulatory requirements across each jurisdiction.

Provide regular reporting on commercial performance, strategy and risk to Group leadership and the Board in line with Ball & Doggett governance requirements.

Work effectively within an international business structure and governance environment, including engagement with the Japanese parent company.

About You

We are looking for an experienced General Manager with a strong background in plastics and flexible packaging, combined with demonstrated commercial and P&L; leadership experience.

You will ideally bring:

7+ years' experience in flexible films for food and industrial packaging, including senior commercial, sales or general management roles.

Demonstrated experience with full P&L; accountability at general management level.

Strong technical knowledge of flexible films, including BOPP, PET, CPP and nylon, as well as film structures, lamination and conversion processes.





A proven track record of profitable business growth and new business development.

Experience leading businesses across multiple countries or regions, ideally including Australia and the USA.

Experience working within a business with significant logistics and/or manufacturing dependencies.

Robust commercial, financial, analytical and strategic capability.

The ability to build trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, employees and senior stakeholders.

A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) is required; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate business qualification is preferred.

You will be comfortable moving between the strategic and operational aspects of the business — from Board-level discussions and commercial strategy through to customer relationships and technical conversations with film and packaging specialists.

Importantly, you will bring genuine cross-country and cross-cultural leadership experience, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

You will also be comfortable with international travel and working across different time zones as required.
