At Patricia Giles Centre for Non-Violence (PGCNV), we believe every woman and child deserves to live free from family and domestic violence. Our vision is simple yet powerful: communities free from family and domestic violence.

For over four decades, PGCNV has delivered specialist support services that promote safety, recovery and long-term wellbeing for women, children and young people experiencing family and domestic violence. Our services include refuge accommodation, counselling, outreach support and coordinated response programs that help victim-survivors rebuild their lives.

About the role

As a Refuge Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting women, children and families experiencing crisis, family and domestic violence, and homelessness. Working within a residential refuge environment, you will help ensure clients feel safe, supported and empowered as they begin their recovery journey.

This is a rewarding and diverse role where no two days are the same. You will:

- Provide trauma-informed, client-centred support to women and children.
- Assist with risk assessments, safety planning and crisis intervention.
- Support clients to access housing, health, legal, financial and community services.
- Build trusting relationships that promote recovery, confidence and independence.
- Advocate for clients and work collaboratively with partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to a positive,



supportive refuge environment.

You will join a dedicated and experienced team that values collaboration, reflective practice and continuous learning while making a meaningful difference in the lives of victim-survivors every day.

About You

You are passionate about supporting women and children and believe in every person's right to safety, dignity and respect.

You bring:

- Experience in community services, family and domestic violence, homelessness, mental health or a related field.
- A trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to working with people in crisis.
- Strong communication, advocacy and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm, organised and compassionate in complex situations.
- A commitment to working collaboratively within a team while also being confident working independently.
- Respect for diversity and a genuine desire to empower others to achieve their goals.
