Deputy IR / HR Manager – Snowy 2.0 | FIFO / DIDO 14:7

ATB Riva Calzoni is seeking a Deputy IR / HR Manager to support the industrial relations and human resources function across our scope of works on the iconic Snowy 2.0 Project.

This role would suit a senior IR / HR Business Partner with major project experience (construction, engineering, mining or infrastructure) who thrives in complex stakeholder environments and is ready to take the next major step up in their career.

ATB Riva Calzoni (ATB) is a long‑established industrial construction company headquartered in Italy and operating in more than 100 countries. We specialise in the design, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning of penstocks and hydromechanical equipment for major hydropower projects.

As the primary supplier of penstocks and steel linings for Snowy 2.0, we combine global expertise with local capability, maintaining direct control over fabrication while maximising on‑site manufacturing and preassembly operations.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the IR/HR Manager, you will play a pivotal, hands‑on role supporting all IR and HR activities. You will provide strategic guidance to project leaders while ensuring bulletproof compliance with employment legislation, enterprise agreements and immigration requirements.

This is a critical position focused on maintaining productive union relationships, driving workforce compliance and delivering project goals through great people practices.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of project IR activities, including union engagement, rights of entry, dispute resolution, and industrial risk management.

Interpret and administer enterprise agreements and employment instruments.

Drive compliance with workplace relations legislation, contractual obligations, and payroll governance.





Support the development of HR strategies and provide expert advice to site teams and project leadership.

Lead workplace investigations and support matters before the Fair Work Commission.

Oversee planning, capability development, succession planning, and recruit/mobilise domestic and international talent.

Manage visas, work rights, and international relocation programs (accommodation, orientation, assignment support).

Foster a positive, safe, and high‑performing workplace culture.

About You

To ensure your success, you will bring a proactive attitude and the following background:

5+ years' experience in senior Industrial Relations and Human Resources roles.

Heavy industry background within civil construction, infrastructure, engineering, or project‑based environments.

Proven track record managing rights of entry, union relationships, and complex industrial disputes.

Deep working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work frameworks, and enterprise agreements.

Proven capability supporting geographically dispersed workforces across multiple sites.

Enterprise bargaining exposure.

Qualifications & Licences

Tertiary qualification in HR, Industrial Relations, Business, Law, or a related field.

Current Australian Driver's Licence.

Construction White Card.
