About the role

St John of God Midland Public Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader Gastroenterology Services to support the daily operations of our Public and Private Gastroenterology Services.

Reporting to the Outpatient Performance Manager, you will provide first-line leadership, guidance and mentoring to administration teams supporting public and private gastroenterology outpatient clinics and endoscopy services, ensuring excellent patient care, efficient service delivery and seamless coordination across both service streams.

In this role, you will coordinate team workloads, rostering and leave planning, support public waitlist management and private patient administration processes, oversee billing-related activities, and contribute to staff development, quality improvement initiatives and operational performance. Working closely with clinicians and key stakeholders, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive timely, high-quality care while fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Key responsibilities

- Lead, support and mentor the Gastroenterology administration team across public and private outpatient clinics and endoscopy services to deliver high-quality, patient-focused care.
- Coordinate daily operations,



including staff rostering, leave planning and workload allocation across public and private Gastroenterology Services.
- Monitor outpatient clinics and public waitlists to support timely access to care and achievement of service performance targets.
- Provide expert guidance on administrative processes, including Medicare, public billing and private health fund requirements.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and performance development activities to build a skilled and engaged team.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to enhance service delivery and the patient experience.

Your skills and experience

You are an organised and collaborative leader with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare setting. You bring strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service to patients, clinicians and colleagues.

To succeed in this role, you will have experience leading or supervising teams, mentoring and developing staff, and working effectively within multidisciplinary environments. You will also possess well-developed communication skills, sound conflict resolution abilities, strong computer literacy, and an understanding of Medicare billing item numbers and PRODA. Experience in outpatient administration, hospital settings, WebPas, Genie software or health fund billing will be highly regarded.

- Salary: $88,501 to $90,256 per annum (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuation.

- A Part Time position, working 30 hours per week
