Senior Business Development Manager, Pipeline Access and Transition

- Salary: $142,790 - $191,084 plus superannuation
- Tenure: Fixed term, 12 months

The Role

mRNA Victoria is seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager, Pipeline Access and Transition to drive key business development activities associated with the BioNTech R&D; and Clinical Scale mRNA Manufacturing Facility Project and support the establishment and transition to a proposed new State Company. With a scientific background and understanding of drug development pathways, you will lead market engagement, pipeline development, commercial agreements and access arrangements for manufacturing and translation services. You will build and maintain relationships across industry, universities, medical research institutes and government, monitor global mRNA and biotechnology developments, identify opportunities for grant funding and provide expert advice on complex commercial and strategic matters.





Main Accountabilities

- Lead strategic corporate initiatives.
- Develop service delivery models within business plans and objectives.
- Deliver service objectives, including financial, quality and time-related targets for programs or major projects.
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Provide authoritative expert advice on complex issues within your area.
- Represent the agency with external peers and negotiate within agreed parameters.

The Team

The position of Senior Business Development Manager, Pipeline Access and Transition forms part of mRNA Victoria within the Industry, Trade and Investment Group.

The Industry, Trade and Investment group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. It supports trade and international investment, international education and innovation, while developing Victoria's priority sectors, boosting trade activities and enhancing productivity and economic growth.

mRNA Victoria is leading the Victorian Government's commitment to establish a world-class Australian mRNA vaccine and therapeutic industry by supporting supply chain, research and development, commercialisation and global commercial manufacturing investments. It leads the Moderna population scale vaccine manufacturing partnership, the BioNTech clinical mRNA manufacturing partnership and other ecosystem-building initiatives in Victoria.

About You

You will bring solid business and commercial acumen, with the ability to drive value and return on investment,



consider economic indicators and manage organisational risk. You will communicate with impact by identifying key messages, providing high-level advice and tailoring content and style to different audiences. You will also bring strong project delivery capability, including the ability to consider broader context, inform project direction and mitigate risk. Experience in business development within the biotech industry, relationships with the local and international mRNA industry, and experience in grant management and oversight are highly desirable. Experience valuing pharmaceutical assets would also be beneficial.
