About the role

The Finance Manager, Metro Bus Franchise leads the finance business partnering function, providing strategic financial advice, insight and guidance to support planning, decision-making and business performance. The role leads a team of financial analysts and ensures financial strategy, budget priorities, policies and compliance requirements are effectively implemented.

Key responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, reporting, financial analysis and risk management, as well as managing financial obligations under public transport contracts. The role provides specialist commercial advice, monitors franchisee financial performance, supports contract negotiations and business cases, and builds solid relationships across the Department to deliver effective financial outcomes.

- Applies critical thinking to analyse issues from multiple perspectives, identify risks and deliver solutions that improve business performance and decision-making.
- Builds and manages strong stakeholder relationships, balancing competing needs and facilitating practical, innovative solutions.
- Brings strong management accounting expertise, using budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and reporting to provide clear financial insights and support business decisions.
- Ensures strong financial governance and compliance, applying effective controls,



risk-based modelling and financial systems to support sound financial management.

Qualifications and experience

You’ll bring:

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant or related discipline (mandatory)
- Professional membership with CPA Australia (Certified Practising Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountants Australia), or an equivalent professional accounting body.
