Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

VCAT
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) is a justice service that resolves a wide range of disputes for the Victorian community, including residential tenancies, planning and setting disputes, consumer and building matters, guardianship and administration, professional regulation and human rights. VCAT is committed to delivering an accessible service for all Victorians and is transforming our digital products and services to make it faster, easier, and more convenient for people to come to the tribunal.
About the role
Offered on a fixed term 12-month basis and reporting to the Director, Strategy, Planning and Performance,the Performance and Improvement Adviser supports VCAT to strengthen and embed its approach to organisational performance and continuous improvement.
The role provides dedicated coordination across performance governance, improvement activity and reporting, helping to ensure that performance information is translated into clear priorities, actions and measurable improvements.
Key accountabilities include:
- Coordinating VCAT's performance improvement portfolio, maintaining a consolidated view of improvement activity and supporting consistent approaches to prioritisation, initiation and progress monitoring, including visibility of dependencies, resource implications, intended outcomes and benefits.
- Coordinating the effective operation of the VCAT Performance Group (VPG), including forward planning, and performance inputs, action and decision tracking, escalation and follow-through, ensuring matters identified through performance discussions are translated into clear ownership and action.
- Supporting implementation of VCAT's Performance Management Framework and performance maturity roadmap, coordinating agreed activities and working across the organisation to progressively embed performance management practices into governance, reporting and operational routines.
- Supportting the development and implementation of VCAT's service standards and performance measures, working with operational areas and relevant subject matter experts to establish clear measures, definitions, ownership and reporting arrangements and integrate these into VCAT's performance management approach.
- Coordinating and quality-assuring recurring organisational performance products, including the VCAT Performance Snapshot and executive and governance reporting,
working with Data and Insights and operational areas to ensure information is consistent, timely and supported by meaningful performance narrative and operational context.
About you
- Demonstrated experience supporting performance management, business improvement or organisational reporting
- Sound project, portfolio and improvement coordination skills
- Experience supporting governance and decision-making forums relating to continuous improvement
- Strong written, reporting and information management skills
- Sound data lite racy and analytical capability
