Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organisation where you can support young people in our community? Use your extensive experience in youth engagement to achieve social justice for young people and their families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

The Youth Engagement Lead collaborates with the Executive Leadership Team, the QRI team, and managers and teams across BYS to ensure young people’s voices and lived experience meaningfully influence BYS and the wider community and housing sector. The role supports organisational strategy and continuous improvement, leads implementation of the BYS Youth Engagement Framework, manages youth engagement projects, and develops related practices and procedures.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you:

- Have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences, or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
- Have extensive youth engagement experience, with the ability to embed lived experience into service design, decision-making and continuous improvement within complex community service settings.
- Can demonstrate highly developed facilitation and participatory engagement skills, supporting advocacy, storytelling, co-design and evaluation processes that empower young people and amplify their voices.
- ·Have proven leadership capability with experience inspiring, training and building staff capacity, while working autonomously,



managing priorities and delivering strategic outcomes.
- Can demonstrate strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and produce high-quality reports, presentations and stakeholder engagement outcomes.
- Have a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and the ethical considerations of engaging young people and children, ensuring participation is safe, meaningful, empowering and responsive.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

- A Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
- A National Coordinated Criminal History Check [Police Check].
- Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella [Chicken Pox], and Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
