Salary:

$172,356 per annum (Increasing to $180,974 on 1st January 2027) + Superannuation + regional allowance if based regionally.

The Role

Southern Ports is recruiting a Data Specialist to join their team based at any of our locations Perth, Bunbury, Albany or Esperance. The Data Specialist will design, build and manage system integrations and data platforms that enable secure, efficient and accurate data flow across Southern Ports. The role will support business operations and informed decision-making by delivering reliable data solutions, while ensuring all activities align with Southern Ports’ vision, strategy and corporate values.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Analyse, design, and implement integration solutions between systems to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability.

- Oversee the configuration, operation, and optimisation of the organisation's data platform.

- Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures.





- Document system configurations, customisations, workflows, and integration processes.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for data integration and platform-related queries.

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on ERP integrations

- Proven expertise in Azure Logic Apps

- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automated testing practices supporting modern data and integration platforms.

- Proven expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), Microsoft PowerBI and Microsoft Fabric

- Strong knowledge of data integration tools and technologies

- Excellent problem-solving skills

- Strong communication and collaboration skills

- Knowledge of data management best practices

- Experience with database design and implementation

- In-depth knowledge of data integration methodologies, tools, and best practices.

- Strong understanding of data governance, security standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., PRIS, GDPR, CCPA).

- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, SQL, or similar.

- Awareness of cloud computing principles and practices, especially in the context of data management.

- Familiarity with agile project management methodologies and tools.

- Ability to travel to other Southern Ports locations (Albany, Bunbury, Esperance, and Perth)

Preferred

- Certification in relevant tools and technologies, such as Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent, is highly desirable

- Experience with data security and compliance

- Experience leading small teams or projects

- Able to respond to changing business needs and priorities





- Continual learning mindset to stay updated with latest data integration technologies and trends

- Experience with cloud-based integration platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) is highly desirable

- Strong understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration principles

- Strong proficiency in data integration tools and technologies, including ETL processes, APIs, and middleware solutions

- Experience in training and knowledge transfer

- Awareness of emerging technologies
