Senior BI Developer - Power BI and Data Analytics

Contract to 30 June 2027 with a view to extend

We are seeking a hands-on Senior BI Developer to deliver reporting and analytics solutions for a large NSW public sector organisation. This role combines BI development with data analysis, working closely with data engineering and data science teams to turn complex data into useful insights.

What you'll do

- Build and optimise Power BI dashboards, reports and data models.
- Write complex SQL and analyse large datasets from multiple systems.
- Clean, transform and integrate data to support reliable reporting.
- Implement data security, including Row-Level Security.
- Manage BI assets across development, test and production environments using version control and deployment practices.
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical analytics solutions.
- Document solutions and share your expertise with other developers.

What you'll bring

- Solid hands-on experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Advanced SQL, DAX,



data modelling and data analytics skills.
- Experience improving Power BI report performance.
- Experience with Power BI on-premises Report Server.
- Experience with ETL, data cleansing and large datasets.
- Familiarity with Git or another version control platform.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work across technical and business teams.

Python, R and cloud technology experience would be advantageous. Previous government experience is not required.

The role is primarily based at Sydney Olympic Park, with occasional travel to Parramatta. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens with a current New Zealand passport. The engagement is subject to a National Police Check and Baseline security clearance requirements.
