About the role

Hills Garden Service is seeking a Gardener to join our team on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about horticulture and outdoor maintenance to contribute to creating and maintaining beautiful gardens and landscapes. Based in Marleston SA 5033, you will work flexibly as needed, bringing your expertise to residential and commercial gardening projects. This role is integral to our mission of delivering high-quality garden maintenance and landscaping services to our valued clients. The current position is for 30 hours a week however there would be 38 hour weeks on offer more often than not if desired. We work a 4 day week having every Monday off.

What you'll be doing

- Maintaining gardens through regular weeding, pruning, and trimming of shrubs and hedges

- Planting flowers, shrubs, and trees in accordance with client preferences

- Operating and maintaining garden equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers safely and effectively

- Preparing garden beds and soil for planting, including composting and mulching

- Lawn care including mowing, edging, and lawn treatments

- Clearing garden waste and disposing of materials responsibly

- Providing advice to clients on garden care and plant maintenance

- Ensuring all work areas are left clean and tidy upon completion

- Working collaboratively with other team members on garden maintenance.

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a gardener or in a similar horticultural role

- Robust knowledge of plants, trees, and shrubs suitable for the local climate

- Proficiency in operating standard gardening and landscaping equipment safely

- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions





- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach

- Reliability and ability to work independently as well as part of a team

- Health and safety awareness and commitment to following best practices
