About the Role

The Pizza Box Altona is seeking an experienced Cook to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook menu items, maintain consistent quality and portioning, and support efficient day-to-day kitchen operations during busy service periods.

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $75,000 to $86,000 per annum plus Superannuation

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a range of menu items in accordance with established recipes and kitchen procedures
- Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment during food preparation
- Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and appropriate quality
- Season food during cooking to maintain consistent taste and quality
- Portion and present meals in accordance with established business standards
- Prepare food to accommodate dietary requirements and reasonable customer requests where required
- Monitor ingredient usage and assist with estimating food requirements for daily service
- Store,



handle and rotate food appropriately, including within temperature-controlled storage areas
- Maintain cooking equipment and work areas in a clean, organised and hygienic condition in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to support smooth service operations
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures at all times

Candidate Requirements

- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related discipline
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen
- Experience working in a pizza, takeaway, casual dining or similar hospitality environment will be highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality, portioning and presentation
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices
- Strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a quick-paced kitchen environment
