About the Position

The Hotel/Motel Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire operation of Imperial Homestead, bringing the accommodation, front office, housekeeping, restaurant and bar functions together as one well-run venue. Reporting to the business owners, the role organises and controls day-to-day operations, leads and rosters the team across all departments, and manages budgets, pricing and occupancy. The position also ensures the venue meets its licensing, food safety and workplace health and safety obligations. It is central to the venue's reputation with visitors to York and to its continued growth as a heritage accommodation and dining destination in the Avon Valley.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, organise, direct and control the daily operations of the accommodation, front office, housekeeping, restaurant and bar
- Manage room reservations, rates, availability and online booking channels to maximise occupancy and revenue
- Oversee guest check-in and check-out, guest enquiries,



feedback and complaint resolution to maintain high service standards
- Recruit, induct, train, supervise and roster front office, housekeeping, kitchen and bar staff, and conduct performance reviews
- Prepare and monitor operating budgets, control costs and review financial performance, takings and reconciliations
- Set pricing for rooms, food and beverages, and coordinate purchasing, stock control and supplier relationships
- Oversee food and beverage service standards and work with the kitchen on menus, presentation and service quality
- Ensure compliance with liquor licensing requirements, responsible service of alcohol, food safety standards and workplace health and safety legislation
- Arrange maintenance, cleaning and repairs of rooms, facilities and grounds so the heritage premises are kept to a high standard
- Plan and carry out marketing and promotional activities, including local festivals, events and function bookings
- Maintain accurate records, reports and administrative systems for the business owners

Requirements

- Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
- Diploma of Hospitality Management or a higher qualification in hospitality or business management.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in hotel, motel or hospitality venue management.
- Working knowledge of property management, reservation and point-of-sale systems, with sound budgeting, rostering and cost-control skills.
- Knowledge of liquor licensing, responsible service of alcohol, food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a multi-skilled team.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills, with a calm, practical approach to problem solving.
- Availability to work a rotating roster including weekends, public holidays and peak event periods.
