The Role

Our client is a major multi-site, multi-franchised current car dealership group located in Coastal North Queensland. They are seeking an experienced automotive dealership CFO or Group Financial Controller to take responsibility for the financial performance, reporting and controls across the automotive operation.

Reporting directly to the CEO, COO & Group CFO, this is a senior leadership role with responsibility for leading and developing a team of eight Financial Controllers while bringing greater consistency, visibility and commercial discipline across the dealership group.

You will oversee budgets, forecasts, monthly results and dealership performance reviews, working closely with dealership leaders to identify financial issues early and implement practical corrective action.

A major upcoming project will be the implementation of a Power BI dashboard across the group. You will play a key role in mapping the financial requirements, managing the project and ensuring the reporting platform delivers meaningful information to dealership and group management.

You will analyse profitability across new and used vehicles, finance and insurance, service, parts and other dealership operations, while maintaining close oversight of working capital including vehicle stock, aged inventory, floorplan funding, debtors and cash flow.

The position will also assess dealership investments, capital expenditure, franchise changes and other commercial opportunities, including their expected impact on profitability and cash flow.
Importantly, you will provide the CEO, COO and Group CFO with a clear understanding of financial performance, risks and opportunities, delivering commercial recommendations rather than simply producing reports.

You’ll Need

Current or previous car dealership financial management experience is essential. Applicants must have worked as a CFO,



Group Financial Controller or senior Financial Controller within a franchised automotive dealership environment.

You will have strong dealership accounting knowledge, excellent commercial judgement and the ability to identify and investigate areas of financial weakness across individual departments and dealerships.
Experience managing and developing Financial Controllers across multiple sites will be highly regarded, as will experience improving reporting systems, financial controls and management information.

You will be analytical, commercially focused and comfortable challenging results where required, while building productive relationships with Dealer Principals, General Managers and senior executives.
Applicants without automotive dealership financial management experience will not be considered.
