NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner
Dot Humanity is an Australian-based Proprietary Limited Company established in 2020 that provides support to people with disability who have an NDIS Plan. We are a registered NDIS provider, working with people with disabilities under the NDIA's legislation and regulation, the WA State Government, and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
About this role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our growing team in Osborne Park WA. The role is available immediately; registration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is required.
This is a meaningful opportunity to improve the lives of individuals with complex support needs, well suited to applicants with a strong passion for mental health and supporting people with psychosocial disabilities. Positive Behaviour Support focuses on person-centred interventions that address the underlying causes of behaviours of concern, while safeguarding the dignity and quality of life of people who require specialist behaviour support.
Practitioners are assessed against the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework, which recognises four levels — Core, Proficient, Advanced and Specialist. We are seeking a Proficient practitioner or above — someone able to recall, understand and apply concepts relating to disability and PBS across general circumstances.
What we offer
- Extensive training and a structured, supportive approach.
- Regular supervision from your direct supervisor (who holds the Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner qualification), plus monthly supervision from an external clinical psychologist.
- Flexible working hours and a healthy work/life balance.
- Excellent remuneration, with opportunities for salary increases and career progression in the PBS field.
- Reasonable KPIs, billable hours and caseloads.
- A technologically innovative workplace with an active IT team; we provide a mobile phone, a high-quality laptop/PC setup, and easy-to-use client-management software.
- A passionate,
values-driven culture that genuinely prioritises staff mental health and wellbeing — reflected in reasonable expectations, ongoing training, and monthly social catch-ups.
- Ongoing professional development, with the opportunity to work within the counselling and group-therapy space long term (subject to relevant qualifications).
As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will:
- Review all available documentation and meet with participants, families, carers, support persons and existing providers to develop NDIS Positive Behaviour Support plans.
- Connect with participants, their nominees and carers, service providers and support coordinators for plan development and implementation.
- Develop high-quality NDIS PBS plans that consider skills development, community and mainstream supports, and the underlying causes of behaviours of concern.
- Liaise with Support Coordinators to ensure plans are implemented and monitored as agreed.
- Attend planning meetings and provide advocacy support to people with disability.
- Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments using a range of assessment tools.
- Provide therapeutic supports to participants and their support teams in line with their PBS plan and funding.
- Monitor and manage your caseload, keeping plan development and monitoring activities up to date.
- Contribute to quality improvement of service-delivery practices, processes and systems.
- Maintain high-quality record keeping, including competency with IT systems.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Manager or delegate.
About you
- A university degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Behavioural Science, Occupational Therapy, or another relevant allied-health field.
- A passion for mental health and clinical knowledge of psychosocial disabilities (e.g. Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Complex PTSD).
- Knowledge of NDIS supports and disability, and of the biopsychosocial model.
- Strong written communication for effective plans and reporting in an NDIS environment.
- Clear, professional and respectful communication with participants, families, colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to plan, organise and manage daily tasks.
- Demonstrated computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office.
- Satisfactory safety screening: National Police Check, International Police Check (if required), current WA Working with Children Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
Preferred
- Awareness of relevant government departments and community agencies that support PBS and therapy (e.g. NDIA, NDIS Safeguards Commission, Department of Health).
- Experience supporting people with disability.
- Experience with assessment tools such as PEDI-CAT, WHODAS, DSM-5.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards (e.g. Mental Health Act, NDIS Act).
- Proven flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment.

- Position: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Classification: DHPSA5.3/4 — Health Professionals and Support Services Award, $75,500 – $87,250 per annum.
- Superannuation: 12% of the cash salary.
